When H+M Trucking outgrew their existing space, they selected an unconventional building—a former Lifetime Fitness gym—to become their new corporate headquarters. The challenge? Transforming the wide-open layout into a warm, approachable, and highly functional workplace that embodied the company’s values. Our team reimagined the entire interior footprint from the ground up, creating department-specific zones, a welcoming reception, collaborative hubs, and a bold central leadership office that redefined transparency and connection.
We developed a comprehensive new floor plan to accommodate every department, build in flexibility for future growth, and create a functional workflow across the expansive square footage.
In lieu of a traditional office, the President requested an approachable, central space. We designed a custom steel and glass structure placed at the heart of the office—creating a visually distinct leadership zone while maintaining open lines of sight and connection.
Multiple flexible work environments were created, including hot-desking stations, focus rooms, breakout areas, lounges, and standing desks—ensuring employees had options for how and where they worked best.
The gym’s open expanse lacked separation or flow. Our solution was to break the space into clearly defined departmental zones while maintaining visual connectivity and maximizing natural light.
The client’s priority was to make the office feel like “an invitation to come to work.” We prioritized welcoming design details—soft lighting, layered materials, thoughtful sightlines—that encouraged comfort, collaboration, and pride in place.
Every design decision—from the layout to the materials—was made to reflect H+M’s bold, hardworking spirit. The result is a space that feels authentic to their brand and energizing for their team.
