THE STORY
Infusing new life into a dated 60's home

Our client desired the character of an older home but with a modern layout and modern amenities. We assisted our client in finding the perfect home that they could purchase and remodel with our help. We landed on the Shire Street home
Our goal for this home remodel was to open up the dated and closed off floor plan and better utilize the kitchen space to be more expansive.
Previously stuck in the 60's, we desired to achieve a modern yet understated design with organic materials, reclaimed woods and a pop of color.
A unique challenge we faced was once walls were opened up, the "cabinet" you see to the right of the back wall in the image, actually holds HVAC. We desired to keep the kitchen balanced with cabinets in that location to tie off the upper cabinet and floating shelf.
We utilized the 5" of space depth available to create a shallow depth cabinet to hold spices. However, from the side and front, it looks like a full depth cabinet
The old layout of this home was closed off and disconnected. We opened up the space by increasing doorway openings in multiple locations, including entrances to the family room from the kitchen and from the entry to the family room. We also opened up hallway walls.
